Sun. Sand. Sea.
Welcome to Maldives!! Or Male we called. (pronounce as Mah-Lay, not MALE)
This place is full of small little islands. Even the airport terminal is on an island. After we touch down, we travelled in our crew bus, sorrie crew boat instead, to our destinated resort. Warm friendly staff welcomed us with a glass of fruit punch before giving us a brief intro about the resort. However, becos he was too soft spoken, or rather we were distracted due to the R&B music in the background, we werent paying much attention to what he was saying. Each of us were given an individual chalet to stay in. Somehow like what you get in our ECP Costa Sand Resort. But the rooms were so much more bigger and spacious. Well, after a quick shower, we went to the lounge for a drink and chit chatted till the wee hours.
Early in the morning, when you opened your door, you are welcomed by the cool sea breeze and warm morning ray. You see lotsa caucasians clad in their slippers and their bikins and broad shorts lying on the sand for the ultimate sun-tanning. For me, here comes the water activities!! Together with 3 other crew, the 4 of us set off for Banana Boating. Riding on a huge yellow banana, we were manouvered by the speed boat for 20 minutes. During the first acute turn, the banana "split" and all of us capsized. Swimming in the clear blue sea with choppy high waves is indeed an experience of a lifetime. Only one word to say: SHIOK!!
Kayaking was next in our itinerary. Its been some times since I paddled, and being the most experienced kayaker, I briefly explain to my fellow colleagues the art of kayaking. And I pair up with another fss who had her virigin try on paddling. Sound as if Im very good at it, slowly coaching her and guiding her, it only reminds me of the past. Still remember last time back in TP, I went for the 1-star kayaking course together with my canoepolo juniors. Becos I was soooo damn afraid of water, I was given the princess treatment and all my juniors would try their best to help me overcome my fear of water and help me whenever and whatever they can. To think now I suddenly become an "expert". Whahah!!
After our buffet lunch, we were looking forward to snorkelling time. Had some difficulties using the breathing gear and flippers at first and drank lotsa sea water initially, till I slowly got the hang of it and enjoying myself. Swam past a school of fish, synchronising with momentum. Saw a real beautiful blue-green-yellow-pink fish, but dont know the name of it. In fact, I dont recognise any of the fishes that I saw, but was so excited whenever I saw one. They just swam past you so carefreely, with no worries. There was this drop-off point which is the big blue Indian Ocean, the water was freezing cold and it looked dark and scary. The bottom pit seems never ending. The biggest breakthough was I saw a baby shark about 50cm long, when I was about to go up shore. Im satisfied that I was able to cover so many activities in 1 day since its my first time flying to Maldives too. Walked around the resort and took some photos while watching the beautiful sunset. Didnt take much photos though cos most of the time was engaged in our water activities.
At the end of the day, I got sun kissed, sorrie I mean sun burnt. Is the burnt worth the experience snorkelling with the fish?? DEFINITELY!! Even though now my legs are two tones and are itching like hell, its worth everything! Would love to go back to this sunny island again anytime.
If you are a bitch, *oops* sorrie beach person I mean, this is the place for you.
Anybody knows the fastest way to get back my white snowy skin in the shortest period??
