Finally I've been to Moscow.
The LARGEST in the world, covering almost twice the total area of the 2nd largest country, Canada, and has significant minerals and energy resources. A republic of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR) and one of the five recognized nuclear weapons states and possesses the world's largest stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. Standard of living is also one of the highest in the world.
And I thought they are only good in gymnasium and volleyball only. Oops.
After much discussion on either taking the guided tour or be adventurous for once to venture on our own, we decided to take the latter, with the FO being the tour guide bringing us around the city.
Set off at 930am, we took the hotel shuttle bus to Pushkin Square. From there, we hopped over to the train which takes us to the Kremlin station. Its not that I dont remember the name of the station. But all the road names are spelt in alphabets with symbols in between.
Heaven wasnt on our side. Dark clouds cover the whole sky and it started drizzling heavily. Cold wind added on to the gloomy weather making us shivered throughout the journey. =(
We paid 11USD to jump queue only to realise that the amount of money we paid was to see the body of the late Lenin. (Huh, who's that) was my initial response too. Vladimir Llyich Ulyanov, better known as Lenin, was the father of the Russian Revolution of 1917. The primary theorist of Leninism, an extension of the Marxist theory. (Time to refresh my history lessons again).
Spent time at the different cathedrals, admiring the differences and cultures across the borders. We went to the Cartier museum too. Got so excited by all the diamonds and blings blings which I've never seen in my entire life. And get to know the history of their signature squarish face watch with brown leather strap. Its been 100 years and the design is still one of the favourites of consumers.
Made our way to the Red Square, where only 1 building is red.
And I've finally seen the colourful ONIONS with my own eyes. Oops. I mean St Basil Cathedral. Super nice lor..
