Still, it didnt stop me from going sight seeing. To the Desert Safari Tour.....
The "Land Cruiser" picked me and another FSS from our hotel at quarter past 4 in the afternoon. In the coach, are 2 more ladies from Iraq with a girl, and another caucasian lady. Had a stopover at at petrol kiosk for toilet break before we proceed on to the desert. Sand dune riding was fun! Driving at 100km/hr, we went up and down the sand slopes, just like sitting on a roller coaster ride. Plastic bags are readily available for those who cant take the "bumpiness". Hehe.. Everyone had fun during the ride. Other than the occasional "Woah" and "Yeah", most of the time we shout "WooHoo!!" And you know, everything took place at the heart of the desert!
We stopped overfor a short while for photo-taking session, admired the breathetaking view of the endless desert and watch the sunset over the tranquil scenery.
Next, we arrived at Al Shamsi Bedouin Village for more acivities. Had a tiny cup of Arabian coffee, accompanied with dates. But the coffee taste more like ginger tea to me! Haha. Had my first experience riding a camel. So cool. Rented a buggy motorbike for more exciting sand riding. Apparently, my bike got stucked in the sand while riding and I gotta shout for help.
Gosh~ Im super duper MALU lor.... -_-"
In the village, you can get the traditional life of the Bedouins. We were given the opportunity to dress ourselves in the traditional Arabic dress, enjoy the freshly made Arabic sweets (which tasted like goreng-pisang dipped in syrup to me), try the "hubbly-bubbly" and learn about the important role tha falcons are playing here in the local life. Oh, henna painting is also available FOC!
The tour also provides a delicious and sumptous BBQ dinner with grilled specialities cooked on site and your choice between a variety of appetisers, salads and sweets. Appetite has not returned so only ate a little of everything. =(
The night ended with a belly dancer entertaining us to the rhythm of the Arabic drums with sizzling hot dance. Guests were invited to join the dancer to shake their "bon bons" on stage too! Just before we left the village, we lazed around on the carpted ground and enjoy the silence of the desert.
If only you were here with me stars grazing together....
7 more days to go, before Im back in Motherland.
Flying to Moscow tonight! YEAH!!
