Did you watched Singapore's first unprecedented hosting of the Formula One race on Sunday? Well I did. And Im glad that I watched it, though I fell asleep halfway through at the 40th lap.
Im not a F1 fans. So I dont know about the points system that gets you the championship. Perhaps Ferrari, Renault, Williams, BMW, Lewi Hamilton, Massa and Alonso are the familiar things that I know. Oh, and the F1 legend "Michael Shoe-maker". Whahaha..
Watching the race on tv at home, makes me realised how beautiful is our small little island. Oh the lightings. Cant deny that the whole race was a huge success. Flipped through the Straits Times on Monday and you know what I meant. Great reviews splashed across the pages.
Not just the papers worldwide are reporting it, the people too.
Like during on board, in between service while serving trays, 1 pax said to me, "Did you watched the race last night? That was a great show isnt it?"
I stumbled for awhile before I could reply, "Oh yeah great show indeed!"
Over in Frankfurt, while paying for my birkies, the lady said to me, "Oh Singapore was so beautiful. I watched the race. I would love to be there one day."
And I heard the security guard at the Empire State building said, "The F1 was great!! Its magnificent!!"
While shopping at Saks Avenue, upon knowing that Im a Singaporean, the sales assistant exclaimed. "Oh mine. That was such a FANTASTIC show!! Did you watched? The track was good but a little too bumpy at the corners. Next up will be at Suzuki. Then Shanghai. Oh gosh, I need to stay awake at 3am to watch it. Blah blah blah......"
A small dot on the map is recognised. From nothing to something. We are famous now!! After the live telecast of the F1, millions start to take notice of our city.
And I think we are now not only well known as
"a fine city", or the place that Singapore Airlines come from, but also rings the bell whenever F1 is mentioned.
I feel so good when I hear compliments about us.
Well done Singapore!
Im
soooooooooooooooooooo proud of you!!
