Study LOR.. (LAW)
I remembered last time when I was studying for my degree. People always like to ask me what course Im taking and before I could reply, they always snubbed me back, "Study
LOR!!" (with the
LOR sound extremely
loud)
Which I did studied
LOR.
Not the LAW that we abide. But
LOR-GIS-STIC to be exact. (Logistic)
And on my flight from Sin to London, I REALLY came across a pax who flew all the way to the land of British, just to study LOR.
This young lady (or rather petite small frame gal), who looked like she just graduated from Secondary School caught my attention. Cos she was travelling alone and she looked like a UM (unaccompanied minor) to me. Somemore she was seated in my zone. Well behaved. Watching shows throughout the flight and didnt press the call light at all.
So upon disembarkation, I had a "small" conversation with her. And I gasped each time she replied.
Me: So are you here for holiday? Her: No, Im here to study for my degree.Me: Oh, which school is it? University of London? Her: Uh no. CAMBRIDGE.*gasped*Me: WOW!! So what course are you taking? Economics? Her: Uh no. LAW.*gasped gasped* First time I met someone who's studying
LAW in CAMBRIDGE!Me: WOW WOW!! That is soooo impressive!! I bet you must have straight As for your A'Levels. Her: Yah. Okie lar.Me: And which JC you from? Her: RJC. (No wonder lar)Her: Actually I applied for NUS too. But Cambridge replied to me first. Moreover NUS gotta study 4 years whereas for Cambridge only takes 3 years to complete.Me: So how do you get to Cambridge? By train? Her: No. By bus. Train is faster, only 30mins journey. But bus is more convenient though its 2hrs journey. But at least I dont have to transit.Me: Dont you have friends or classmates study together with you? Her: Yah but they arrived 2 days earlier than me. Only 5 of us are selected to study here. (OMG! I think she must be one of the elites!!)Me: I see I see. Pardon me but Im just curious how much is the school fees. (Normally I dont ask people such rude questions. But Im really CURIOUS!!)Her: 20 over thousands pounds per year.*gasped gasped gasped* while the back of my mind is calculating the exact figure.
150k sg dollars!!!!! My God!! That's alot of money. I bet she must have come from a well-to-do family.
Me: So what's your plans after you graduate? Her: Dont know yet. Maybe I'll stay in London or move back to Singapore. See how first.Me: So right after you graduate you will become a professional lawyer? Her: Uh no. We have to take a bar exams first. For Spore schools take only 6 months. But for external schools outside Spore, will take abt 1 to 1.5years. After we pass then we become professionals.Me: WOW!! A professional lawyer at a tender age of 23?! *gasped gasped gasped gasped x10 times* OH MY GOD!!She just looked at me and gave me a sweet smile.
In between our conversation, of course she also asked me what are the things I do in London and how often do I fly there. And she seems VERY interested in my job cos she keep asking me questions. On the other hand, Im VERY interested in the course that she's studying too. Whaha..
All the best to you, young lady. I bet your family must be so proud of you. Till I see you in 2-3 months time on board again.
Or perhaps during your summer break in London.
